Bio

I am an American actress of Irish and Scottish lineage, born in New York City.  I  grew up on Long Island, Ft. Worth, TX,  Coral Gables, Fl.  Attended University of Dallas, The New School, Fordham University.  Returned to New York at 22 with my two infant children.  Gene Frankel and Lee Strasberg were my earliest acting teachers.  William E. Hunt gave me my first break in 1968 at his Red Barn Theatre in Northport, NY, in Aren’t We Wonderful?  In 1971 David Merrick put me in my first Broadway show, Four on a Garden; Abe Burrow directed, Carol Channing and Sid Caesar starred.  Also on Broadway: created the role of Janie in P.S.Your Cat is Dead! starring Keir Dullea, and played opposite Judd Hirsch in Lanford Wilson’s Pulitzer Prize winning Talley’s Folly.

During the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s I appeared in myriad TV shows, commercials, and films.  The second half of my career has been almost completely centered around the creation and performance of solo works.  While studying Shakespeare with Lynn Redgrave, and training in Alexander Technique and Linklater Voice, I began weaving speeches from Shakespeare into my autobiographical material.  Have performed these plays in various venues in New York and Los Angeles and at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.  The New York Times has described me as an actor possessing “dignity and grace.”  I am currently working on new material for the stage and on a memoir.
